Role: fDi Benchmark is looking for an Economic Research Assistant to join its production team. The person will be responsible for updating and maintaining the fDi Benchmark database based on various global sources.

fDi Intelligence is a major division of the Financial Times Ltd, specialising in all areas relating to foreign direct investment and investment promotion. We are the largest FDI Centre of Excellence globally. Our full suite of services include: location advertising to generate brand awareness; industry-leading tools to develop FDI strategies and identify potential investors; and tailored FDI events and investor roundtables to meet target companies and generate business leads.
fDi Benchmark is a unique online database and location assessment tool which assesses the competitiveness of countries and cities in over 55 sectors. Its comprehensive location data series covers the main cost and quality competitiveness indicators for over 450 locations around the world.
The Economic Research Assistant will work as part of the fDi Intelligence team conducting in-depth research on specific regions of the world every day, identifying and collecting key economic data and recording the information into the fDi Benchmark database. www.fdibenchmark.com
Responsible To: Production Manager
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Input and update new and existing data on fDi Benchmark.
- Research available sources in order to identify key determinants of FDI.
- Ensure database is maintained in an accurate and consistent state.
- Assist in basic development of information sources.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
- Hold a degree with a research / statistical / economic related element.
- Have excellent research and analytical skills.
- IT Literacy, in particular Microsoft Office Excel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
Desirable
- Knowledge of an additional European or world language(s)
- Have a sound understanding of economic globalisation and cross border investment
